Kunstverein Weiden - `KunstNatur´

The Aesthetic of Nature in Art

The pictures of Munich resident Eva Kunze – with futuristic titles like “take shape,” “glycogen,” and “evolution of forms” - seduce the viewer into seeing the traces of the visually and metaphorically dominant natural sciences. As the source of her inspiration, she uses microscope photographs. And as a matter of fact her pictures are reminiscent of the images of an electron microscope. She gets very close to her objects, making them look unfamiliar she fills the canvas with imagination. The observers, immersed in the microcosmos of molecular biology, although what they actually see is freeform painting. Kunze’s technically brilliant pictures, according to Jürgen Huber, the curator of the exhibit, can be considered as representative of the entire show.
